While eating at the top of the #towerofamericas in San Antonio #Texas I noticed this boxed in #church and found it wild how it has a building enclosing it on 3 sides, lol. Turns out this is the #StJosephCatholicChurch and was built from 1868 until completion in 1871.
In 1944 Joske’s department store offered to purchase the church grounds to develop it commercially but was denied. Thus Joske’s built around the 3 sides of the church. Joske’s was purchased by Dillard’s in 1988 and the entire mall facility is now called the #shopsatrivercenter.
