There are a ton of cheap useful test devices to help you test every type of USB port… USB type-A (traditional), micro USB, USB type-C, etc. This video covers testing of the standard USB port as well as USB type-C but using similar devices (I will list what I use as well as a few others) you can expand your testing capabilities! Doing these kinds of tests can help you troubleshoot if you USB outlets are good/bad and what kind of amps they are capable of, as well as help you isolate problems to possible damaged cables or issues with your devices.
